On January 22, 2013the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Highway 367 South for a report that someone had attempted to break into a residence. The victim reported that the unknown suspect did take his game camera that was outside the residence. Shortly after the original call on Highway 367, a nearby residence filed a similar report of an attempt at their residence on Hwy. 367 South. The suspect was seen leaving in a vehicle described as a maroon Ford truck with no license plate.
Deputies later located the vehicle and made a traffic stop identifying the driver as Charles Smith, age 21 of Searcy. The game camera was found in the front seat along with two iPhones, jewelry and two prescription pill bottles belonging to a third victim from Hwy. 367 South. The third victim had not discovered the theft at that time. Smith was arrested and transported to the White County Detention Center where he was booked in for Residential Burglary and issued a bond of $25,000.00. Smith’s next court appearance will be April 2, 2013 for this charge. All items in Smith’s possession were returned to the owners.
Smith is out on bond and awaiting trial for a previous charge of Burglary.
